Cannot Open a Particular Website?

Your computer is connected to the Internet but you are unable to open a particular website though all the other sites are loading without issues.
For instance, you can open yahoo.com and bing.com but it takes forever to load www.google.com even though the site is up for everyone else in the world.

Step 1: Like with everything else, switch off the modem, restart the computer, and turn on the modem again. Also clear the Internet cookies and browser cache. Problem gone? No, proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Temporarily disable your computer’s firewall and close any anti-virus software that may be running in the background. If you are now able to access the websites that were previously not loading, your security program is causing the problem. As as workaround, you can add that site to the “trusted” zone in Internet Explorer and see if it works.
Step 3: Open your hosts file and see if there are any entries for sites that are currently unreachable from your computer. The hosts file is located in the following folder:

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Step 3: Try a remote screen capture. For instance, if the URL of the error site is abc.com, try opening aviary.com/http://abc.com in your browser. This will help you make sure that the site you are trying to access is not down at the source.
Step 4: Clear your DNS cache and run the ping and traceroute commands against the problematic site to make sure that it is not an ISP specific issue.

ipconfig /flushdns
tracert www.error-website.com
ping www.error-website.com

If the DNS server is an issue, you can easily switch to Google DNS or OpenDNS without having to call the ISP’s support. However, if the ping and traceroute connections are successful but the sites remain unreachable, proceed to the next step.
Step 5. Reset the modem to factory defaults and re-configure it with the same username and password that was provided by the ISP. You can reset the modem by pressing a pin inside the hole located at the back of the modem for about 10 seconds. Or you can call your ISP support and let them guide you through the steps over phone.
The last step is very likely to fix your internet connectivity problem.

Wild OZ

Australians are on killing spree for some time now.
We don’t seem to have a strong msg in our foreign policy.
MEA is making only statements; it is time that civil society takes up the matter.
Film industry should boycott Australia for location shooting.
Indians should boycott Australia as a tourist destination.
Travel agents should stop bookings to Australia as a protest.
All page 3 socialites should stop attending functions at the Australian Embassy.
Indians should have a social boycott towards Australians in India.
Our Foreign minister says that Indian students should not go to Australia to learn hair dressing or cookery. Well said, Mr Minister, but if Ministers like you stay in 5 star deluxe hotels they will demand such trained experts.
Can we expect any action from MEA?
OR ONLY STATEMENTS?

State of the World’s Indigenous People

Source: United Nations

Indigenous peoples contribute extensibly to humanity’s cultural diversity, enriching it withmore than two thirds of its languages and an extrordinary amount of its traditional knowledge.

There are over 370 million indigenous people in some 90 countries, living in all regions of the world. The situation of indigenous peoples in many parts of the world is critical today.
Poverty rates are significantly higher among indigenous peoples compared to other groups. While they constitute 5 per cent of the world’s population, they are 15 per cent of the world’s poor. Most indicators of well-being show that indigenous peoples suffer disproportinately compared to non-indigenous peoples.
Indigenous peoples face systemic discrimination and exclusion from political and economic power; they continue to be over-represented among the poorest, the illiterate, the destitute; they are displaced by wars and environmental disasters; indigenous peoples are dispossessed of their ancestral lands and deprived of their resources for survival, both physical and cultural; they are even robbed of their very right to life.

In more modern versions of market exploitation, indigenous peoples see their traditional knowledge and cultural expressions marketed and patented without their consent or participation.

Of the some 7,000 languages today, it is estimated that more than 4,000 are spoken by indigenous peoples. Language specialists predict that up to 90 per cent of the world’s languages are likely to become extinct or threatened with extinction by the end of the century.

Net scams profit from desperate jobseekers

The methods to defraud people online have been evolving since e-mail became the 21st Century's preferred method of communication.

Unsolicited e-mails announcing a lottery win or phishing correspondence asking for banking details have become common.
But as net users become savvy, scams are also becoming more sophisticated, for instance by seeking to exploit unemployed people during the economic downturn.
Unsolicited e-mails offering the chance of high-paid employment in fields such as financial services aim to gather people's personal information which could lead to identity theft.
However, once someone replies to these e-mails, the likelihood of gainful employment is very slim indeed.

'Too good to be true'

Caroline Coats, from scam advice website Cyberfraud.org.uk said the main fraudulent scheme at the moment is mystery shopper positions.
"The idea is it tells you about quite a lucrative job that you could be doing, maybe earning in excess of £100 a day, but you have to pay a sign up fee," she said.
"It doesn't sound quite too good to be true and that is what gets people to pay £34 to sign up".
When the net user has signed up, the fraudsters pocket their cash and disappear into the digital ether.
There are many variations of this employment scam, and similar ones have existed since the times when physical mail was the main method used by fraudsters.

Recruitment scams

Financial fraud can have particularly devastating consequences for its victims - one example is the money mule scam which turns unwitting users into money launderers for criminal gangs.
The process begins when a user applies for a job via a legitimate-looking recruitment website which is actually fake.
Andy Auld, head of intelligence for the Serious Organised Crime Agency (Soca), said there had been a recent rise in such online banking crime.
"It's one thing to gain access to an account but it's very difficult to actually transfer funds to the country of origin of the attack," he explained.
"Fraudsters need people in the UK to receive criminal transfers into bank accounts under their control, and this is where mule recruitment operations come in," he added.
He said the fake job adverts on websites are professionally crafted and usually for admin and services positions such as financial controllers.
"People get duped into applying for jobs that appear genuine and involve the forwarding of funds on behalf of e-commerce operations.
"It doesn't matter if you don't realise you are committing an offence," said Mr Auld.
"In certain aggravating circumstances you will actually face criminal prosecution and potential imprisonment for acting as a mule."

Identity theft

He added that bank account details, date of birth and e-mail addresses are valuable pieces of information to fraudsters - unwittingly sending these to criminals is tantamount to being recruited as a money launderer.
Ms Coats set up her advice website after falling victim to a money mule scam which resulted in her losing £14,500 and being arrested.
All charges were dropped when it became clear she was victim rather than perpetrator of the scam.
However, with the loss of funds there is also an ongoing risk of identity theft.
"Somebody in the world could have a passport in your name, opened a bank account in your name, and they can also register an address," Ms Coats said.

Chain Marketing- My View

Recently I have been approached by some of my close friends to join some chain marketing company. I ignored them and suggest them also to avoid these things. But their mind was already whitewashed by the so called business associates' presentation. I remember a incident when a close friend of mine Parvinder approached me with a business (according to him, earning while learning course) named ebizel. He called me for an educational Seminar in Vidyamandir,Camac Street, I agreed and accompanied him but it was a presentation organised by the experienced and polished members of the ebizel. They left no stone unturned to make believe the newcomers that it ia a divine oppurtunity especially for the middle class students.

After this I researched about it thoroughly in Internet, Googled, and hear some experienced person and come to conclusion that Chain Marketing or MLM (Multinational Layer Marketing) is not good way to earn money. Please stay away from it. It will ruin you, your friends and your country. Don’t become a victim. Protect other innocent people from chain marketing. Please don’t ruin your family and friends. Don’t even attend the chain marketing presentations and seminars.

Below is a part of my research on Chain Marketing and MLM that consists of some web excerpts from Wikipedia, Google and my experience towards ebizel.

Normally, chain marketing companies works on the principle of Pyramid Scheme. A pyramid scheme is a non-sustainable business model that involves the exchange of money primarily for enrolling other people into the scheme. Pyramid schemes are illegal in many countries, including the United States, Great Britain, France, Canada, Malaysia, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Iran. Normally, 99.99% of the people lost their money in any MLM or pyramid scheme.

According to the dictionary of Chain Marketing members world is divided into two types of people, one is Prospect and other one chain marketing members.(CMM)
C.A.P. stands for Contacts, Appointments and Presentations. This will serve as “tracker” when they start in the business and treat each day as a business day. They keep with them, a list of all the names that they will call or contact, all the schedules appointments for the day and planned business presentations held during the day. For weekend, they have some special plans, that is called weekend plan.
Inviting is the first and one of the most important skills you will need to master in order to be successful in this business. Master the art if inviting with this following techniques
a) curiosity is the key to inviting, create one and not satisfy it. (DO)
b) It’s a major no-no to present the business over the phone. (DON’T)
c) The members always review the names in their memory builder. (DO)
d) When contacting the prospects, they behave as if they are not soliciting but offering an opportunity to discover a business idea that could literally change the life of the prospect. (DO)

Presenting
The information packet of chain Marketing Members normally contain
a) Company Profile and then MLM AND RM.
b) Business Model
c) Company brochures.
d) Teamwork all over INDIA (how they are working)
e) Fake Cheques.

Follow Up:
Most people are not ready to commit instantly or just after one meeting. Actually it is difficult to make some people fool easily . So follow-up comes next. At this time, all the chain marketing members talk with that person and go over with any questions that he might have. In this follow up, the members act like Hollywood actors and show that they are very happy, making so much money etc.

What these chain marketing members do to make their friends fool ::
  • They never explain the business to anybody by them self before going through the training session and getting sufficient experience. Normally in 2-3 months, they get full experience in cheating persons so after loaded with all the guns they target their innocent friends.
  • Normally they do not approach their friend and tell him everything about chain marketing. They only tell that they are into an business and earning. They try to make their friend curious about what business they are into. What business, no clue. They show their friend as if they are earning a lot and happy with how the business is going. Then when the innocent person insists a lot, then they will tell him to come and discuss the business. Remember, they never tell anything like its networking or chain marketing. Just they use the word BUSINESS. That is it. Their aim is to get the presentation done. The presentation is actually a mind was session.
  • They will show full confidence on the system and the team work is excellent. But normally it will be all fake, you would know all these things after becoming member of the chain marketing.
  • When the friend insists on telling what business they are doing, they ask him to meet them and discuss the business along with their business associates. They will never use the word presentation. These day, these cheaters are using the word “meeting” for this.
  • When friend might ask you that is it networking. They Say NO. They tell him its not network marketing and they are not selling toothpaste, gold coin and all. They are doing a business and not salesman job. They tell him that if he is interested then come for a meeting. They show as if they are least bothered if he does not turn up. But you know all these things when you will become members. Normally they spend many days and nights for a single person and try to act that they don’t care.
  • When after all frauds and lies friend becomes ready to come for a meeting, they tell him that the guy with whom he would be meeting a guy who is master of the business. He has earned this this amount (all false data, full of lies, they never give the correct data). The chain marketing members call this method of attracting the attention of the friend as “Edification”
  • After the presentation Follow up takes place. It is the most important thing in the business of making people fool. As soon as the presentation is done, the chain marketing members ask their friend “CHALE LOGIN KARNE”. If the innocent friend says I would think, would ask mummy, would ask friends, etc., then these chain marketing members try everything to get those things out of his mind.
What these people will tell when the friend will talk about money problem ::
Money problem : Arrange 5-6k and then take 2-3 from your friends. Or else shop from friends credit card and then apply for a loan and give back. I also did the same. What u think, did I had 8k with me when I joined. I also had the same case but I managed.
A and B problem : Everyone is so helpful and we would definitely get our common friends under you. If you wont grow, do u think I would grow. So I would have to help u. I have no other option. Rest you’re my friend, do you think I would have contacted you just for your 30k. You have such a good friend circle and I want that all of them should come under you only.
Would ask my parents, brothers, sisters, friends : Don’t tell about the business to anyone. You would just misguide them. What u would tell. You got the clear picture in 1.5 hrs and what u think u can tell your friends and relatives in 15 or maximum ½ hr. Its just not possible. Its better you don’t ask them. I can tell their response , i.e a BIG NO. Network marketing has got a very negative image because of Amway and all…ml concepts.
I would tell them nicely that its not ml and very good business model : What u will tell. Then tell him the flaws. Your relatives and friends would ask for cheques and all. I have got a personal experience.
I would think and tell You in two days. If you would think in that sense u can never succeed in any business. If u want to open a restaurant, u first hire cooks and all. You don’t go out for customers first and then cook the food. Anyways, it is your personal wish, if u would contact anyone u would spoil your own business. I would advice you to start with the business right now and have your do’s and don’ts session and start with the business. If you still want to think, you can but don’t discuss or try to take advice from anyone because you would get a negative reply only.

That is my personal experience.
Once again I would like to reiterate

Complain legally about a product or service

If you are not satisfied with a product or a service that you paid for, then you have every right to make a legal complaint against it. Unsatisfactory product or service complaints can be made under Consumer Guarantees Act or Fair Trading Act.
If you have a problem with something you paid for, either product or service, the first thing to do is to go back to the person you made the purchase from, and let them know about your dissatisfaction. Traders want the customer to keep buying from them and hence, will sort the problem then and there for you. Of course, there are times when you come across difficult traders. Here are the things you can do to make a legal complaint against a product or service.

At first collect the receipt of the purchased good/goods you want to make a legal complaint of.
A friend for moral support will always be good.
Read up your rights on
Consumer Guarantees Act or Fair Trading Act before you head to make a legal complaint of the product or service.

Speak to the shop keeper from whom the product was purchased. Some traders or assistants will refund your money or offer to provide you a better service or product. If this is not the case, then demand to speak to the owner or the manager of the store. Explain the problem to the owner/manager. Let them know what you want them to do to resolve your issue.
The trader may tell you that you need to speak to the manufacturer. Do not believe this. Once the good is in the traders hands, it becomes his responsibility to give the customer a good product or service.

A complaint letter may be helpful to keep a record. Give the trader a copy of the complaint letter, keeping the original with you. Mention the details of the product like, date of purchase, name of the product ect. Attach a copy of the bill as well. Mention in the complaint letter what the problem is and what you want them to do about it.

If your issue is yet not resolved by the trader then, you can either approach
a) Trader Organization
b) Disputes Tribunal
And lastly,
c) The Media

Traders mostly have an organization. These organizations have a complaint handling scheme. If your complaint is about the way a trader treated you or your complaint, then this is the best place to pour your complaints or grievances.
The given link might prove useful
: Trader Organization

If your complaint is regarding a breach of contract, Consumer Guarantees Act or Fair Trading act, you might want to head to the Dispute Tribunal to lodge a complaint.
The given link will come in handy: Dispute Tribunal OR The Motor Vehicles Disputes Tribunal

For further details you may visit the Ministry of Consumer Affairs

Caution

Remember! It is your right to get what you paid for. There are laws to help every consumer. Do  not be blind to your rights.
You can always make a legal complaint about a product or service if it does not stand for the guarantee it gave.

Here are the few sites which can help.

Twitter Disasters

Follow some Guidelines below if you want to protect yourself against unfortunate disasters. i mean protect your Twitts:- your twitter updates

Twitter Never Forgets: With a little effort one can dig out your twitts after months even as there is no approval method who follows you. Anybody can read your tweets sometime land you in trouble. So it is better protect your updates. Click settings and check the Protect My Update Box, by which your tweets will not be visible to anyone approved as a follower. But, anything you have tweet out already will be available, especially on third party Twitter interface.

Locking Out Twitter Twits: Never bash a person in Twitter, they can get on you easily. You can make your account protected, block a user on Twitter in the "Action" section on the profile page removing you from his follower list and prevents your updates from displaying in his page. But your current friends can still copy and paste your tweets or save them through screen capture.

Linking Twitter with Others: It will be disaster if you link Twitter with others like Facebook. So be careful when you link Twitter with other applications. Even your employer or future employer can know about you before you can realize.

Recover Hacked Yahoo Account from Customer Care Number

A friend of mine, Nishant Verma who studies B.Tech in ICFAI,Hyderabad got into a serious trouble. HisYahoo account was hacked and now he calls me to help him get back his account recovered in which he has his university forms and other mandatory emails from his college and other professional institutes.

As normal, I advised him to use paasword recover page but of no use coz; his account is being hacked.
While on this I found a new way to recover your yahoo a/c and this helped him and me, a sigh of relief since I cannot see my friend in depression.

Here's some solutions we found that helped him reset his password.

•  Call 866-562-7219, press 2, press 2. Be ready to provide Date Of Birth, date account was hacked, some details about the last emails you accessed, and the answer to your secret question.
•  Repeatedly email customer service at mail@cc.yahoo-inc.com
•  Email account:--> security-help@cc.yahoo-inc.com, in the subject line, put your old password.
•  Call 1-(408) 349-1572, tell them you're a premium member (even if you're not), they will transfer you to password department.

So what can you do to prevent yours?

1.If your security question is to write your mother's maiden name. DO NOT write the truth. Remember this is not a passport verification. Write something else. At least MIS-SPELL the name. But then the catch is you must remember this. Remember if you are on line, there is a lot of data about you floating around.

2.Give a secondary email address. Though often not mandatory, when the hack happens you will wish you had done it. So might as well do it now.

3. When it happens, respond swiftly. When your account is hacked, it will take some time to get it back. Put in the time. Or put someone on it...someone who you trust. Don't delay

Have you ever gotten your Yahoo account hacked? How easy/hard was it to regain control of it?
